Screen Testing

Screen testing for Drugs is conducted using Urine testing devices.

Urine testing is conducted using verified screening devices which comply with Standard AS/NZS 4308:2008.

On the indication of the possible presence of a drug (not-negative or non-negative) the sample can be sent to an IANZ accredited laboratory, such as ESR or Canterbury Health, for confirmation testing.

Donors have the right to request testing of the referee specimen and a medical review of laboratory results.

Alcohol testing is conducted using a breath testing device compliant to AS 3547:1997.

Your Company’s Legal Responsibility

As of April 2016 Employers have a responsibility under the Health and Safety in Employment Act 1992 to take all practicable steps to make the workplace safe for employees and people in and around the workplace.
An employee impaired by alcohol or drugs is a hazard.

Our Staff

All our staff are qualified Collectors with NZQA 25511 and 25458 and operate in compliance with the New Zealand and Australian Urine Workplace Drug Testing Standard AS/NZS 4308:2008.

Drug and Alcohol Policies

We are able to assist companies to prepare and implement a comprehensive Drug and Alcohol Policy. Employment Agreements and Policies work is done for us by a third party. Training and education from this third party is also available.

Urine Screening Devices

Onsite Screen testing of staff is a cost effective and instant method of testing.

Micro Screen Urine Drug Test Cup is used for general screening. Micro screen test cup is verified to Standard AS/NZS 4308:2008. The cups have six panels for screening the common drugs of abuse.

Synthetic cannabinoids are screen tested for separately.

Types of Drugs Tested

The classes of drugs usually tested for in a standard workplace test are Amphetamines, Methamphetamine, Cannabis, Cocaine, Opiates and Benzodiazepines. Other types of drugs can be tested for such as synthetic cannabis.

ESR or Canterbury Health, at an extra cost, can screen for other classes of Drugs on request.

Drug Testing Programs

Once a Drug and Alcohol Policy is in place, we recommend implementing a Drug Testing programme where all employees are tested on a random annual basis.

The policy should include Pre-employment, Post Incident, Random and Reasonable Cause Testing.
